Poultry housing and management in developing countries

چکیده
Poultry housing Improvements to poultry housing systems in developing countries have focused on providing an environment that satisfies the birds’ thermal requirements. Newly hatched birds have a poor ability to control body temperature, and require some form of supplementary heating, particularly in the first few days after hatch. Many developing countries are located in tropical areas where minimal heating is required. Indeed, the emphasis in these countries – particularly for meat chickens – is on keeping the birds cool.

The Use of Housing System in the Management of Heat Stress in Poultry Production in Hot and Humid Climate: a Review
There is a gap between the population growth and protein supply in many tropical countries where per capita income is low and the majority of people consume less protein than a daily standard for recommended protein intake. Poultry egg production remains the fastest route to bridging the protein demand-supply gap in these regions. However, poultry are faced with heat stress in the tropics which...

متن کاملInvestigation of Energy Efficiency of Broiler Farms in Different Capacity Management Systems
An experiment was performed to investigate the energy efficiency and effect of poultry house size on energy productivity in 3 different capacity management systems. Capacities of houses were 10000(3 housings), 20000 (2 housings) and 28000 (1 housing) birds per production period and were assigned as HI, HII and HIII respectively. This experiment was conducted in a completely randomized design ap...
متن کاملBiosecurity measures for backyard poultry in developing countries: a systematic review
BACKGROUND Poultry represents an important sector in animal production, with backyard flocks representing a huge majority, especially in the developing countries. In these countries, villagers raise poultry to meet household food demands and as additional sources of incomes. Backyard production methods imply low biosecurity measures and high risk of infectious diseases, such as Newcastle diseas...
